ORAL COMMUNICATION THEME Digital education SUMMARY Our study focuses on the acceptability of online training in the context of Senegalese culture. It is located at the intersection of reflections on the effects that sociocultural distance and pedagogical distance can have on online training. As part of our study, we relied on online training provided during confinement due to the recent pandemic. To do this, 64 second grade students, 10 teachers and 21 Senegalese parents took part in our research. The reflection was guided by questioning how students, teachers and parents lived their experience. All placed within the framework of the influence of culture on the acceptability of online training. The exploratory case study was the methodological approach chosen and various methodological tools were used to collect quantitative and qualitative data. Our results indicate that culture, in particular parental involvement, constitutes an important variable to take into account because of social representations with regard to online learning, which on the other hand has an impact on the attitudes and behaviors of learners and teachers with regard to online training.
